Advice for divorcees

Going through a relationship breakdown can be one of the most distressing and traumatic events that anybody can go through during their lifetime.

Quite often a divorce process will begin amicably, however, when it comes to dividing up the marital assets and agreeing child or spousal maintenance things can quickly turn sour.

At HK we will work with you to try to make the process as smooth as possible.

When you begin to discuss the division of the marital assets you have several options to achieve this:

  • Sit down with your ex-spouse to try to agree an amicable split of assets
  • Pay for an independent mediator to sit with you both to help with the split of assets
  • Get together with your ex-spouse and your respective solicitors
  • Engage with your solicitors to negotiate without a round-the-table meeting
  • Apply directly to court and employ a Barrister to divide the marital assets

If you choose to use the HK Way we will work with you from day one to achieve the best possible outcome, no matter how long the process takes.

We will construct numerous Lifetime Financial Plans to demonstrate what your financial future looks like both before any financial agreement and also what it looks like based upon the different settlements that you might consider.  You can work through these with your solicitor.

Then we will hopefully get to an agreement that works best for you, which can then be presented to your ex-spouse, their solicitor and also the court.

Nothing will take away the pain or the stress of a relationship breakdown, however, we will stand with you and try to make it as easy as possible.
